Japanese Name: さより【Sayori】
English Name: Japanese Needlefish
They can grow to about 40 centimeters; they also have a long protruding lower jaw, and their maxillas are like a small triangular flap. The tip of the mandible is red when alive. Although the back is blue-green, its abdomen is silver, and their muscles are semitransparent. They tend to swim in shoals near the surface of the sea, prey on zooplanktons and eat pieces of floating seaweed. They jump out of the water when they feel threatened.
