Scallops are one of the biggest bivalve species which grow to become over 20cm. They prefer cold seas, and are usually caught in north Japan, such as Hokkaido or Aomori. Characterized by a fairly well developed scallop eyes, which allow the shells to open and shut for swimming. Scallops can be eaten either raw or cooked, and the scallop eyes are usually used in sushi.
Because scallops are balanced in various components to improve the function of the liver, they are highly recommended for people with low liver function. The most famous component is taurine.
